History of puja
We would like to furnish the following information in respected of our DURGOTSAB, which we, the MAHILABRINDA of the locality, with the patronage of the people from all walk of life have been organizing the UTSAB for the last 15 years thereby making the people of all ages to float in the air of gay and happiness during the puja festival which we had been missing all these years. (i) A brief history of the PUJA: How it came into being? It was the year,2001, when we, a few MAHILA’s of our area who are mostly housewives except one or two as working women, who remain throughout the year busy in their daily routine works, which sometimes appear to them monotonous, without any sparking striking events in their lives, which become more evident during PUJA FESTIVAL when our locality being a developing locality, where Apartment after Apartment with new inhabitants are coming up with regular space of time, remain completely gloom and dull and plunged in darkness at night during the Durgapuja festival when nearby locality are floated in light and gay with a festive mood. (ii) It was to because, there was no DURGOTSAB in our locality. Though there was a wish among most of the residents that we should have a DURGAPUJA in our locality, nobody came forward. So it was we the few MAHILA’s who decided to have a DURGOTSAB. So, we started in the year 2001, with a meagre fund. Though there were some obstacles which we could overcome, with our determination and strong will. There was spontaneous support and enthusiasm from all irrespective of caste and creed and our puja is growing and spreading every year with thousands of devotees which throng the puja pandal with DALI to offer ANJALI to MAA DURGA. (iii) How it is now:- It is most well organized puja, Though a Sorbojanin in name, it is performed like a domestic puja observing all rituals in suddhachar, which attract people from nearby locality and far away places who come to offer ANJALI to our PUJA on MAHA ASTAMI & MAHA NABAMI and SANDHI PUJA leaving behind theirs. Our PUJA got certificate of appreciation from a Journalist Association, as PUJA performed following BISHUDDHACHAR. It is a unique, in its performance, as we, from the very beginning, have been serving on MAHA ASTAMI Day BHOGPRASAD to devotees making them sit in a row in bench and made them eat to their fullest satisfaction. Every year we serve almost 1000 to 1500 devotees. We perform BIJAYA SAMMILAN on the very next day of BISHARJAN. BASTRADAN amongst the poor is one of our activities. Apart from this, we remain engaged in social activities like imparting free tuition to the deprived students and helping the poor and patient suffering from Cancer or Heart disease etc.
